Many young professionals move here because of the tree-lined streets, varied architecture and low-density population – this was the dream of James Lefferts. Lefferts, whose family farm dated back to 1680, sold 600 parcels of land with the vision of creating a deep-rooted community of people living in solidly built homes in a tranquil environment. To that end, he attached to each of the lots Covenants ensuring that it would only be single family homes of limited height. These guidelines are still in place today and combine with multiple transportation options that keep Lefferts’ dream alive: a serene escape from the tumult of city life.
